This hot, creamy, Irish classic will warm you to the bone. Imagine mixing up a cup with Jameson Caskmates Irish Whiskey, then topping it with fresh cream and ground nutmeg! The chocolate notes in the whiskey really stand out against the bitterness and acidity of the coffee. Forget the mimosas and enjoy one of these with your weekend brunch.
2 2/3oz hot coffee
1 1/3oz Irish whiskey
1 tsp. brown sugar
1oz fresh cream
Heat the coffee, whiskey, and sugar (do not boil). Pour into glass and top with cream.
Bourbon Hot Toddy
When there’s a chill in the air, what better way to warm up than with a hot toddy? This simple, citrus concoction has been said by some to ward off illness, valuable information for when cold season rolls around, but we just enjoy the taste. Kick it up a notch and use Buffalo Trace Bourbon, the higher alcohol content (45%) and high corn content makes the cocktail sweeter and flavourful.
8oz hot water
1 tsp raw sugar
1 lemon wedge
Pour water into sauce pan/kettle and bring to a boil. Slice lemon and insert cloves into lemon wedge and place at the bottom of your favorite mug. Add bourbon and sugar. Once boiled, pour hot water into your mug and enjoy!
Cinnamon Mulled Wine
Looking for something savory to keep you cozy? Open a bottle of your favorite red, like Apothic Red or The Industrialist, and heat things up! If you’re not a fan of red wine simply replace the vino with an apple cider, like Turning Point, and have yourself a hot apple cider.
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp ground allspice
1 tsp ground cloves
2 tsp ground cinnamon
750mL bottle of red blend wine
Orange or lemon zest for extra flavor (optional)
Uncork wine and pour it into a heated pot. Add nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and cinnamon. Let the flavors mix for an hour or so, stirring occasionally. Pour yourself a mug, garnish with a cinnamon stick, star anise or orange slice, and enjoy!
